Sa

My experience so far has been incredible. It's a different world here and I'm still adjusting but in a good way. :) This island is big on religion. They always have their shoulders and knees covered despite the hot humid heat. I'm trying to adapt to this but it's very difficult when you're sweating at a tremendous rate. A long shirt and long pants is the last thing you want to wear! I manage by wearing long skirts and light tops. I guess I won't have to worry about crazy sunburns right? ;) Everyday, around 6pm, the Sa bell rings throughout the entire island. To my understanding, you must sit down under a shaded area during Sa and be respectful. You must wait quietly until Sa ends. It is a time for you to sit and pray or just sit quietly to honor and respect their culture for 15 minutes. I had my first Sa experience the other day. Jameson and I walked to the water just steps away from our house. We sat quietly listening to the bells and looking at the enormous mountains that surrounded us. It was so amazing! I loved every second. It's times like this when I miss home. I kept saying to myself, "I wish my sister saw this. I wish my Mom was here." It's such a great experience, you want everyone you love to experience it with you. One day!! I hope my friends and family visit, you guys NEED to see this!
